ExxonMobil's Zafiro field is located 42 miles from Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea. Water depths range from 300’ to greater than 5,000’. Mobil's Zafiro-1 discovery well was drilled in February 1995, which tested at 10,400 barrels per day. Three additional wells showed the reservoir to be at ~5,000' and low pressure. The Zafiro oil field started producing in August 1996.

Reserves of natural gas in Qatar were measured at approximately 896 trillion cubic feet. A part of the world's largest non-associated, natural-gas field, the North Field, is a geological extension of Iran's South Pars / North Dome Gas-Condensate field, which holds an additional 450 trillion cubic feet of recoverable natural-gas reserves.

Noble Energy drilled the initial exploration well, Leviathan 1, to a depth of 16,960' and announced a discovery in late 2010. The cost of drilling the exploration well was $92.5 million. The well was drilled by the Noble Homer Ferrington Semisubmersible. The Leviathan Field is estimated contain ~16 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and is located in the Levantine basin about 84 miles offshore Haifa, Israel in 5,600' of water. Noble Energy developed subsea infra structure to flow gas onshore to Israel. It is estimated that Leviathan's reserves can fulfill Israel's domestic gas needs for the next 40 years.
